Falls Players Beat Update

Actors have been busy at work preparing for the production of “Sherlock Holmes: The Final Adventure,” which will be showing on April 16, 17 and 18.

The show features Sherlock Holmes (Duane Weldon) as he calls upon his old friend Dr. Watson (Bob Hirschman) to assist him in foiling the plans of the Napoleon of Crime, Professor Moriarty (Kevin Anderson). As they prepare to venture off, the King of Bohemia enters the picture with a twist of his own.

One of our very own classmates, sophomore Audra Schjeldahl, plays the opera diva and Holmes’ only true love, Irene Adler.

Many high school students are helping backstage. Jeremy Boehm, Eric Conrad and Josh Hanson are among the moving crew. Sarah Sigler and Cory Weldon run the spotlights.

One of the many challenges the crew faces is turning the rotating stage used to provide scenery for three of the scenes.

“Turning the stage requires 2-4 people. We use hooks that hook on to loops attached to the bottom of the stage. It is a really neat piece of equipment that divides a circle into thirds. Those thirds are separated by walls and doors. It’s a [pain] to turn but gives a neat effect that I’m sure the audience will appreciate,” said stage manager Todd Koboski.

Doors open at 6:30 p.m. on Friday and Saturday with the show starting at 7:00 p.m. On Sunday doors open at 1:30 p.m. with the show starting at 2:00 p.m.

The Sunday performance features a “buy-one-get-one-free” deal. Tickets for adults are normally $8 and for students $6
