The common plant wall has an infestation. What is it? Where did it come from? Carmen Huggett and Ethan Graham were doing research on it and why it’s there, how it’s affecting the plant’s health and beauty.
“We first thought of spider mites because of the pigment that was being left on the leaves. And because spider mites are arachnids, they’re related to spiders. They can produce spider-like webbing. And, they, like, can eat away and erode parts of the plant. So they appear to look like dust on the leaves,” said Huggett.
With that, we have information about spider mites and what they are.
“By noticing the yellow leaves and the white spot spots on the wall,” Graham said when asked what piqued his interest in the plant wall and its infestation.
Finally we have the spidermites info and why Graham made this choice for his SAE; when Huggett was asked she had a completely different reasoning on why she made this decision.
“What intrigued me to do my SAE on the wall is because I really love, caring for and working with plants. Whether that’s picking, pruning, watering, growing, or replanting. I really love working with plants and at home I have my own garden beds in the back in my backyard that I get to experiment and see what all helps plants grow.”
