Student Senate Update
Drug-related expusions dominated the discussion at the first meeting between Superintendent Ron Saari and Student Senate February 2.
Senators expressed their concerns for the student body and proposed ideas about how to make the school a safer and more drug-free place.
Of all of the ideas considered, drug testing was the most controversial. Some senators felt it would come in handy when there are drug tips, it raised red flag concerning student privacy.
“Student Senate was made for the students. Not the school board, not the administration, but the student body. We need to protect them,” said senior senator Nick Eden.
A lot of ideas were tossed around on Tuesday. Saari was so pleased that he scheduled another meeting for February 9, to continue the discussion.
