Athlete Spotlight: Audra Schjeldahl
Some people may not consider cheerleading a sport, but sophomore Audra Schjeldahl does.
Schjeldahl has played basketball and danced throughout her entire life. When she found cheerleading, she jumped right into it.
Schjeldahl believes that cheerleading should be considered a sport.
“It’s all really athletic. All the jumps [require great strength]. Throwing girls in the air is like lifting weights,” said Schjeldahl.
Schjeldahl explains that cheerleading is fun but it has its ups and downs.
“It’s all a lot of hard work. It gets tough, especially with the girls. There have been some hard times but its all fun in the end” said Schjeldahl.
When the season’s over she’ll be really disappointed, but she is ready to get back in it next year.
“I can’t wait for the next season,” said Schjeldahl.
