FFA Beat Update: National FFA Convention

Every year some members of the Black River Falls FFA participate in the third largest convention in the nation, second only to the Democrat and Republican Convention. The members this year was senior Zachary Markhardt, senior Cassie Olson, sophomore Aspen, senior Will Peasley and junior Dan Anderson.

“We attended sessions, workshops and career booths. In Indianapolis, they had FFA members from across the nation. The shopping center has everything agriculture under the sun and more,” said Markhardt.

The shopping center has hats, boots, FFA plaques, FFA stuffed animals, model tractors the possibilities are endless.

As parts of most conventions, there are always speeches by the national officers and motivational speakers to keep the attitude light and upbeat. From these speakers, these students learn innovative ways to bring leadership and growth back to their chapter.

“The sessions had some cool motivational speakers. The workshops also gave some good leadership lessons. I also learned that Chick Fil-a makes the best chicken sandwich ever,” Markhardt said.

“National FFA Convention was the bomb, and a goat,” Aspen said.
