BRFHS Paw Print: What sports have you participated in during your four years here?
Danielle Johnson: Freshman year I participated in softball. I have been playing tennis for four years and Shooting Tigers for four years. And then track and field for three years.
PP: Which sport has been your favorite?
DJ: Tennis by far because there are a lot of great girls that I have met and coaches that are fun to be around.
PP: Will you be continuing one of these activities as you continue your education?
DJ: I will be continuing my tennis career with the community tennis league.
PP: What impact has tennis left on you?
DJ: It has taught me how to be independent and it helped me be a role model for the younger girls on the team. For example, on senior night one of my teammates was crying during our circle talking about the seniors, and she just said, “I am gonna miss you so much. I really looked up to you.”
PP: What is your advice to younger athletes about the sport?
DJ: Be a go-getter and believe in yourself, especially when you start to lose and the other player gets inside your head. I had competed with a tough girl from Viroqua. Once I finally got past the things inside my head and beat them, it made me feel very victorious. I started crying in a moment of relief after two years of competing against her and losing.
