Teacher Spolight: Mrs. Zahasky

Two weeks ago was National Library Week and students had been reading for 15 minutes every day in honor of this special week. However, none of it could have been put together without the help of head librarian Cheri Zahasky.

Zahasky has been with the Black River Falls High School Staff for 12 years. However, she didn’t plan on being a librarian at first.

“I actually was going to major as a Laboratory Technologist,” said Zahasky.

Later, she decided that majoring in education would be right for her.

“When majoring in education, you have to choose between a minor or an emphasis,” said Zahasky. “I was working in the University’s library and I felt like it was a match.”

Now Zahasky is not only in charge of the library at BRFHS, but also Tuesdays with Cheri, which is now known as Book Club. She has been in charge of it for two years now and enjoys listening to what the students have to say.

“It keeps me up on the trends and books students are interested in, and you have a more personal connection with them,” said Zahasky.
