West Hixton Whips

The official West Hixton Whips logo. These vinyl stickers are placed on all vehicles once the build is complete to show that it is an true West Hixton Whip.

West Hixton Whips is an organization started by a few current and one graduated BRFHS students. They take pride in their car modifications they’ve done to several of the vehicles in the BRFHS parking lot. The crew at West Hixton Whips has done everything from custom paint jobs, stereo installations, window tinting, to customizing interiors.

The business started when one of the founding fathers, senior Zachary Bo Anderson, thought his car could use something to set it apart from the others like it. This became the first West Hixton Whips edition ride.

“We started by painting the car black and then adding orange racing stripes, because Homecoming was coming up,” said Anderson.

Along with the fresh paint job the car also received a new sound system including subwoofers and a flip-out monitor in the dash. Also in leau of purchasing new rims, Anderson simply painted the original ones black to match the paint.

Nobody knew at this time just how far this group’s car customization talents would grow.

Today, WHW has five full time workers that can customize almost any part of a car. Most recently they’ve ventured into window tinting.

“[Window] tint can cost up to $250 dollars at a regular shop, but when we do it ourselves we only have to pay for the tint which only costs around $50,” said 2009 BRFHS graduate and founding father Vincent Johnson.

The primary worker who does window tinting is senior Paul Murray.

“I’m the best!” said Murray in regards to his window tinting talents.

WHW not only tint windows but have also tinted taillights on the cars. They specialize in “blacking out” vehicles. This is when they make everything possible on the car black. WHW is currently working on blacking out three vehicles, all belonging to original members of WHW.

“The cars we work on vary from Durangos to Civics . Our latest one was of course a Honda Accord owned by [senior] Alec Erlandson,” said Anderson.

“First I drove a Honda Accord, now I drive a West Hixton Whip,” said Erlandson.

WHW has plans to finish up the Accord with some window tint and customizing the interior.

The pride of the WHW shop is their uncanny ability to turn any car into a booming, window-shaking, moving bass machine. They do everything in this department from creating custom boxes to fit in any car, wiring and installation of the equipment.
WHW works with a variety of components to make sure that the vehicle always sounds its best. They’ll change the factory radio, door speakers, all the way to adding high end subwoofers to make sure there’s always plenty of bass to go around.
