Blood Drive Update

On Monday, March 29, FCCLA will be hosting the second blood drive of the school year.

The group’s goal is to collect 60 donations. FCCLA adviser Tina Gilbertson is fairly confident that they will be able to meet their goal this time.

“Usually numbers go up in the spring because more people are turning 16,” said Gilbertson.

Last fall, the Red Cross was only able to collect about 30 donations from the blood drive. This was due to the fact that there was an altered schedule that day and many students didn’t sign up in time to donate.

“It’s really important for students to get an appointment ahead of time so that they don’t get turned down,” said Gilbertson. “That way, they will get the chance to donate.”

Having a blood drive specifically at the high school is important for a number of reasons.

“It’s shown that when students are educated about giving blood, they are more likely to start giving blood at an earlier age, and continue to donate for the rest of their lives.” said Gilbertson, “I think that it’s one of the coolest things that we do here at the high school.”

To make a difference in the lives of three people, sign up in room 602 this week.
