In response to Adam: This was well said, we(The Senate) represent the student body, therefore it is our responsibility to do what we feel is right for the student body. This was a great point you brought up. In response to Devyn: The Senate passed the resolution to voice our stance on the topic, this is not yet a policy, and will have to go through many more obstacles before it becomes so. But remember that the Senate was divided on this issue, and that in the democracy we are modeling YOU, as a memeber of this student body, have the right to vote for who represents you. Voice your opinions to your Senator and i promise you it will be addressed.

also in response to Devyn's post, the student senate will not be the only people to vote on this policy; there are still two groups it has to go through before it gets to the school board.

In response to Devyn's post, the students senators do in fact represent the student body. In the begining of the year, each class voted for student senators they thought would represent their class fairly. The people who are on the senate were voted in by the student body to represent the student body. If someone has an issue or is opposed to something in the school, write a letter to your student senator and I guarantee that it will be heard through the senate.

Yeah, i think that this won't help with the drug use. Kids can still do whatever they do and no show that they are doing drugs.

I was happy to hear the senate got involved with the drug testing issue in our school. I think it is also important that they are involved with the planning of how the proposed process will accure. I think it is important for the students to know the people deciding are going to be formally trained individuals, therefore, no personal grudges or feelings will be involved in the decision.

One thing I encourage the senate to consider is: What happens after they test? What happens if it is possitive? Will the student get help?

There was no point in letting the just the Student Senate vote on the topic. It was a big enough topic and the 21 people don't speak for everyone in this case cause the topic is so big and there are different sides to it.
